About the PSSA

The Philosophical Society of Southern Africa (PSSA) is a community of academic philosophers from various parts of Southern Africa. It was established to promote dialogue and interaction between philosophers in the region; to promote postgraduate participation and the fostering of younger philosophical minds; and to develop and facilitate the dissemination of philosophical research.

The PSSA’s flagship event is its annual conference, which is hosted on a rotational basis by its member departments. The PSSA is also linked to the South African Journal of Philosophy in which conference papers are published as part of a special issue each year.
